This site is a tribute to David John Evans, who was born in Plymouth on 1st April 1941 and sadly passed away on 20th September 2020 after a short illness.
David, known by many as Dave, very much enjoyed life, loved socialising down the 'local', and had many, many, long-time friends who will sadly miss him. His other treat was going occasionally to the races (did you know in his early days David was an accomplished horse rider...) and having a bet or two; he won thousands over the years and lost many more, alongside friends who followed his tips!
He was a Fruit & Veg Wholesaler during most of his working life and also had a couple of Fruit & Veg Shops back in the 60s/ 70s.
David leaves a son Martin married to Tricia who have two daughters, Martha & Lorna. He loved them enormously, and especially enjoyed seeing his granddaughters and visiting and staying with them in Gloucestershire over the years.
From a very close family, David cherished his parents Bill and Phyll now passed, and he leaves an elder brother Malcolm and sister Maureen with whom he was even closer - they both truly loved and cared for each other and David stayed most weekends with Maureen helping as needed, particularly with the cooking - he was top notch at home cooking and enjoyed preparing tasty meals for the family at the drop of a hat.
David has been a rock for Maureen and her sons Philip and Christopher over the years, and in turn they have been a rock for David, particularly Philip and his wife Carol who continue to live in Plymouth, as do their grown up kids Stacey and Steven, and Sam their eldest is married to Andy living in Bicester with their young family.
Although it is very sad to lose David it was thankfully a short illness and the care and support provided by St Luke's, the Lynher Ward and all the staff at Derriford was second to none. 'Rest assured' everyone, David kept his keen sense of humour and glass half-full approach till the end by saying, 'wouldn't it have been terrible to go like this without having enjoyed life like I did'.
David you are much loved and will always be remembered.

To my beloved brother, always in mind never forgotten. My deepest thanks to everyone at St Luke's and Lynher ward.
Although at times we would have a row we always ended up laughing :) Dear Dave I will miss you always...
